This project provides the Qatar Steel Plant in Mesaieed with a new Utilities Gas Production Facility. The project consists of a main compressor area, air purification skids, cold box unit for oxygen production, and an LOX (liquid oxygen) storage tank.

Kentech were commissioned by Air Liquide to provide the detailed design, engineering and erection of the electrical and instrumentation scope of works. The detailed engineering carried out included delivery of the cable schedule, cable sizing, voltage drop calculation, load flow analysis and cable routing. We also delivered the instrument hookups, loop diagrams and block diagrams.

Kentech then went on to carry out the E&I installation works which included the assembly, installation and hookup of the main 66-6.6kV 20MVA transformer, connection of the compressor units, process skids, lighting and small power. The instrumentation scope included equipment installation, hookup and tubing works. We also provided commissioning support at the start-up stage.

The client has commended Kentech’s performance on the project, and this has contributed to an excellent working relationship throughout the job. Kentech have also maintained a perfect safety record on the project, with zero incidents from beginning to end.
