Odoptu Stage 2 (OS2)

Return to the previous page. Go back

The Odoptu field is located on the North Eastern coast of Sakhalin Island in the Far East of Russia with temperatures falling as low as -45*C. Odoptu Stage 2 (OS2) is designed to double the fields daily production capacity reaching a peak production of up to 80,000 barrels per day.

33 new wells have been drilled on both the North and South Well Sites which comprise of 16 oil producers, 2 gas injection, 9 water injection, 1 water disposal and 1 cutting reinjection well. A modular construction strategy was adopted for the 0S2 Project with the modules been fabricated in Korea and successfully sealifted and placed in location in 2016 and 2017. A total of 13 modules were safely sealifted and offloaded at the TOF and transported both the North and South well sites with 5 of the modules weighing over 2,000 MT. The design required the 2016 modules to be operational prior to the 2017 modules arriving to Odoptu.

Throughout these phases of the project, the Kentech team delivered electrical, heat tracing and instrument tubing installations for the drilling infrastructure that comprised of office facilities, warehouse, logistics building and 2 pipe racks both on the North and South Well Sites.

Once the modules were set in their final location, we proceeded to complete the cable tray, cable, instrument tubing, instrument, heat trace, grounding and light installations. The team were able to efficiently and safely accomplish this complex work through extensive front end planning and preparation. In conjunction with the construction department, our QA/QC and testing departments managed to inspect and test the installation in the required time schedule and complete all the required paperwork associated with subsystems startup.

Most importantly, this was all achieved with the highest level of safety performance with no lost time injuries recorded during the OS2 Project. This was due to the OS2 Project Management Team establishing an effective means of communicating HSE Plans and procedures to all personnel. Consistent and systematic training sessions, safety standowns, daily toolbox talks, all-hands meeting were all held on a regular basis.

Kentech Project Successes:

  • Executed circa 1.5 million manhours LTI Free
  • No recordable incidents
  • 31,533 Hazard Observations Cards submitted
  • Just under 15,000 Greenfield and Brownfield permits completed
  • Successfully achieved and exceeded the cabling network installations with a total of 551,844 LM positive average variance of 130,289 LM.
  • Average Efficiency Rate of 1.13
  • Installation of a total of 340 subsystems

Our site management team also introduced a safety recognition program where certificates and gifts were given out weekly for the best Observation Card and for the Best Mentor within the workforce.

All of this was recognized by ENL on an ongoing basis and at project completion they awarded our project team a plaque congratulating them for their commitment to outstanding safety, security, health, environmental and execution excellence.
