In 2007 and 2008 Kentech were involved in several FPSO (Floating Production Storage & Offloading) conversion projects undertaken at Dubai Dry Docks in Port Rashid, Dubai.

The FPSO vessel, converted from an oil tanker, has a production capacity of 100,000 bbl of oil, treatment and compression of 106 MMcf/d of gas and treatment and injection of 150,000 b/d of water.

In 2008, Single Buoy Moorings Inc. were contracted by Chevron Frade LLC (Chevron Texaco) to deliver the engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract for the provision of an FPSO based on the conversion of the VLCC Lu San from SBM Inventory.

Kentech was subsequently awarded the commissioning support contract by SBM with the contract covering the provision of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, fire and gas and telecommunications services peaking at 75 highly skilled technicians.

Following the conversion the vessel sailed to its intended destination in 1,080m of water depth at the Frade offshore field in Brazil. Kentech technicians accompanied the vessel to Brazil to complete final commissioning activities as it sailed and at its final destination.

The Frade contract further established Kentech as a specialist provider of commissioning services to the oil and gas sectors in the UAE.
