Delba III is a dynamically positioned semi submersible drilling unit of the TDS 2500 design, constructed by Single Buoy Moorings Inc. for Delba Drilling International Cooperatie at the Gulf Piping Company’s fabrication yard in Musaffah, Abu Dhabi.

Delba III was one of three rigs constructed by SBM in Abu Dhabi between 2009 and 2011.

In October 2009, Kentech was awarded a contract by SBM Inc covering detailed engineering, procurement, construction and pre-commissioning of the electrical and instrumentation installations.

Upon client request in September 2010, Kentech put together an acceleration schedule to complete the base scope by January 2011. Kentech delivered 100% of the base scope on time following the rapid mobilization of additional personnel, peaking at over 1,000 personnel. During this period Kentech achieved 1 million executed manhours without a lost time incident. The project as a whole achieved over 9 million manhours without a lost time incident.

Following completion, the rig was destined to operate in the Brazilian offshore sector. This drilling rig is capable of operating in water depths up to 2,400 metres and is capable of drilling up to 10,000 metres below the seabed.

Kentech has successfully executed a number of similar projects at GPC’s yard since the initial contract in the Middle East in 2006. Delba III is Kentech’s third contract directly with SBM in the past two years.

On 30th July 2021, Kentech acquired the Oil and Gas Business of SNC-Lavalin. This led to the exciting relaunch of our new company, now known as Kent.
