The Central Degassing Station project is part of the SAS Oilfield Development for the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO). The rejuvenation of the Asab field is central to ADCO’s overall development plan to increase its production and achieve the committed production targets.
Petrofac were awarded the overall contract in 2009 at a value of $2.3 billion. Tekfen Construction & Installation Co. Inc. were brought in by Petrofac as main contractor on the CDS project and subsequently awarded Kentech a contract in March 2011 for the electrical installation works.
The primary activity of this contract is the installation, termination and glanding of 3.6 million metres of cabling. The sheer volume of work within a tight timescale gave the team challenging weekly cable laying targets. From the outset however Kentech were able to set and meet weekly target figures, a feat which was also achieved during the harsh summer temperatures and through the reduced summer working hour regulations in the UAE. With our peak team of over 250 cable pullers, the team reached an incredible 114,000 metres of cable pulled in just one week – a company record for Kentech. All of this work was achieved without a single first aid case, which is a great accomplishment thanks to the vigilant work done by our supervision and safety personnel on site.
The project took place over a 14 month period and represented our first collaboration with Tekfen, although Kentech had been heavily involved with the Asab Field Development since 2007.
Kentech also provided oilfield services to Petrofac and National Contracting Company.
Kentech is fully prequalified with ADCO.
