Berkut Platform – Arkutan Dagi Topsides Development

As part of the development of the Arkutan Dagi field at Sakhalin-1, an offshore, ice-resistant fixed platform was deployed which went on to become the largest oil and gas production platform in Russia.

This gravity-based structure has been named Berkut – from the Russian for golden eagle. The Berkut platform was the first ExxonMobil operated platform with friction pendulum bearing isolators to make it more seismically stable. Its topsides are among the largest in the industry, weighing about 28,000 tons.

In order to bring this platform online, in 2013, Kentech were contracted by ExxonMobil to provide HVAC commissioning support works for the offshore modules being built in Busan Shipyard (South Korea) and sailing with them from Korea to offshore Sakhalin where we also provided similar services for the onshore element of the platform.

Following the award of this commission, Kentech were also contracted to assist Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. (DSME) to provide offshore hook-up, commissioning and completions services covering electrical, fire and gas, HVAC, instrumentation and control, mechanical, piping and telecommunications for the topsides of the facility.

At project completion in September 2015, Kentech had executed over 550,000 manhours without an LTI on the platform.

On Tuesday 9th February 2021, we announced an agreement to acquire the oil & gas business of SNC-Lavalin’s Resources Division.

This business includes people and assets brought together through their acquisition of the Kentz and other energy services businesses. This transaction marks an exciting, ground-breaking development for Kentech to reinforce our position as a leading integrated energy services provider and introduces us to the renewable / clean power marketplace. We now move forward together with a global network of more than 10,000 professionals united by a commitment of common values and strong partnerships with clients from across the world.

By investing now, we are strategically positioning the company to take advantage of the next cycle of growth.

Our complementary businesses will join forces, creating a stronger offering across the full asset life cycle – from consulting to design and build, commissioning and start-up, through to maintenance, modification and turnaround, as well as decommissioning services.
